AIS Welcomes Five New Council Members

The Association for Information Systems is pleased to welcome five new council members effective September 1, 2024.
Andrew Burton-Jones, The University of Queensland, began his role as the association's 30th AIS President on September 1. Nancy Pouloudi, Athens University, has become the Immediate Past President of the AIS Council. We extend our sincere welcome to Dorothy
Leidner, University of Virginia, who begins her term as the Association’s President-Elect. All three Presidents will serve on the AIS Council as well as on the AIS Leadership Team.
Suprateek Sarker, University of Virginia, concludes his term as Immediate Past-President and has transitioned to the AIS Member-at-Large position on the council. Under his tenure, Sarker enhanced the efficiency and financial sustainability of AIS activities
and strengthened the organization’s global reputation. He championed inclusivity, fostered greater engagement within the community, and positioned AIS to thrive in the evolving digital landscape. We extend our gratitude for his hard work and the lasting
impact of his leadership.

President-Elect Dorothy Leidner
is the Leslie H. Goldberg Jefferson Scholars Foundation Distinguished Professor in Business Ethics, with a focus on AI ethics, and serves as President-Elect of the Association for Information Systems. She has held various prestigious academic positions,
received numerous accolades, including the AIS LEO lifetime achievement award, and published extensively in top-tier journals with over 50,000 citations.
Vice President of Communications Carol Hsu
begins her term as Vice President of Communications—a returning position on AIS Council. Carol is a Professor in Business Information Systems at the University of Sydney, with a Ph.D. in Information Systems from the London School of Economics and a background
in both academia and the financial industry. She has published in top journals, serves as Senior Editor for the Journal of Strategic Information Systems and Information Systems Journal, and has held leadership roles in major international conferences,
including receiving the Sandra Slaughter Service Award from the Association for Information Systems.
Vice President of Education Christoph Rosenkranz
succeeds Jan Marco Leimeister, University of St. Gallen, as Vice President of Education for a three-year term. Christoph is a Professor of Integrated Information Systems at the University of Cologne, specializing in Information Systems Development, with
a research focus on the human and social factors in systems development and enterprise systems. He holds a Master of Science in Information Systems from Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster and a PhD in Economics and Business Administration from
Goethe-Universität Frankfurt. His work has been published in top journals such as MIS Quarterly and the Information Systems Journal.
Vice President of SIGs and Colleges Julia Kotlarsky
succeeds Michelle Carter, University of Manchester, as Vice President of SIGs and Colleges for a three-year term. Julia is a Professor of Information Systems at the University of Auckland Business School (New Zealand), specializing in technology sourcing,
digital transformation, AI-human interactions, and digital sustainability with research conducted in major companies like IBM and Tata Consultancy Services. She has published extensively in top journals, authored 17 books, serves as a Senior Editor
for several leading journals, and is a co-founder and former President of the AIS Special Interest Group on Advances in Sourcing.
ICIS Representative Souren Paul
succeeds Stacie Petter, Wake Forest University, as ICIS representative for a one-year term. Souren is a retired professor from Northern Kentucky University (NKU) with over 26 years of experience in teaching and research in information systems. His mission
is to advance the knowledge and practice of information systems in the context of complex social and organizational phenomena. His core competencies include computer-supported cooperative work (CSCW) and social computing, information
security management, and augmented intelligence. He has published multiple peer-reviewed articles and book chapters on these topics and has supervised doctoral dissertations and mentored junior faculty.
