AIS Welcomes Six New Council Members

The Association for Information Systems is pleased to welcome six new council members effective September 1, 2023.

Nancy Pouloudi, Athens University of Economics & Business, began her role as the association's 29th AIS President on September 1. Suprateek Sarker, University of Virginia becomes the Immediate Past President on AIS Council. We extend our sincere welcome to Andrew Burton-Jones, The University of Queensland Business School, who begins his term as the Association’s new AIS President-Elect. All three Presidents will serve on AIS Council as well as on the AIS Leadership Team. 

Patrick Chau, concludes his term as Immediate Past-President. Under his tenure, Chau inspired the launch of the Entrepreneurial Innovation Fellowship (EIF) program, led an association-wide review of the AIS Awards program, and most notably, was an integral part of the Association’s leadership through the disruption of the global pandemic in 2020 and 2021. We wish Patrick the best of luck in his new position as Provost at Beijing Normal University - Hong Kong Baptist University United International College. Congratulations Patrick!

Kevin Scheibe, Iowa State University, begins his three-year term as Vice President of Region 1. The role was previously held by Monica Garfield, Bentley University. During her term, Garfield developed innovations at AMCIS with badging, eLibrary, and a focus on paper development. She also supported the development of the AMCIS 2023 Outstanding Conference Service Leadership Award and the AMCIS Impact Award and was instrumental in advancing knowledge capture and standardization practices for the annual conference. 

Pär Ågerfalk, Uppsala University, begins his three-year term as Vice President of Region 2. Ågerfalk succeeds Tilo Böhmann, Universität Hamburg, in this role. During his term, Böhmann's accomplishments include the introduction of the AIS Impact Award, active support for conference development in Region 2, and a dedicated effort to enhance AIS representation in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. 

Manju Ahjua, University of Louisville, begins her three-year term as Vice President of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI). Ahjua is the first person to hold this new position on AIS council and she is working closely for a smooth transition with Eleanor Loiacono, William & Mary, who served as the first Associate Vice President (AVP) of DEI for the Association.

Stacie Petter, Wake Forest University, begins her one-year term as ICIS Representative. Petter succeeds Ryan Wright, University of Virginia, in this role. 

Thanks to all the outgoing Council members for many years of service to our entire community, especially during extraordinary global events. Your outreach and service and support are sincerely appreciated and have been instrumental in moving the Association forward.
