AIS Council recently approved the formation of new chapters in Russia and New England. These new chapters will provide network opportunities, research collaboration and educational offerings to AIS members in their respective areas.

The New England Chapter (NEAIS), led by president Luvai Motiwalla of University of Massachusetts at Lowell, will serve the states of Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Connecticut, Vermont and Maine.

NEAIS hopes to promote collaboration among the IS faculty throughout the New England area and plans to conduct IS workshops and seminars, as well as establish collaborative partnerships with local industry and community leaders.

“The New England area has long served as home to some of the field’s most involved and influential leaders,” said Ryan Wright, AIS Vice President of Membership and Chapters. “This new chapter will help to solidify the strong presence of the IS community in the area.”

The Russia Chapter (RusAIS) will be led by president Alena Fedorova with assistance from vice presidents Ruslan Dolzhenko, Elena Kalabina, and Alexandr Kokovikhin.

RusAIS will promote the exchange of professional communication among scholars and professionals throughout the Russian Federation. The chapter will provide a forum for those concerned with specific areas of research within information systems, as well as provide opportunities for networking and education through special events such as the conference Digital Transformation of Society, Economy, Management and Education at Ural Federal University.

“We are very excited to welcome RusAIS to the ranks of AIS Chapters,” said Wright. “This area of Region 2 will benefit from the work of the chapter and support provided by AIS Chapters.”

AIS members are encouraged to join their local AIS Chapters and remember, you don’t have to work or live in the chapter’s area to join. If you are interested in joining these new chapters, or any other AIS Chapter please visit
