Introducing the New Portuguese Chapter of AIS

The goal of the new Portuguese chapter (PTAIS) is to promote the exchange of knowledge and experiences among scholars
and professionals engaged in the development, management, and use of
information systems and technology by (i) encouraging the implementation of
collaborative research and development
programs and projects; (ii) facilitating the transferring of emerging knowledge
and technologies to organizations; (iii) promoting the adoption of
internationally recognized IS curricula; and (iv) supporting the
internationalization of Portuguese IS research. It also pursues the
development of the information systems discipline in Portugal.
To achieve its
mission, PTAIS will promote the following activities:
- Organization
of an annual conference for the Portuguese IS community;
- Dissemination
of information on IS curricula efforts from AIS;
- Dissemination
of information on international opportunities for research collaboration and
funding;
- Promotion
of research done in Portugal in the AIS international events;
- Organization
of events aimed at encouraging creative dialogues between scholars and
practitioners;
- Facilitating
the access to educational resources in Portuguese, namely Portuguese case
studies in Information Systems;
- To publish an electronic Portuguese journal in
IS.
