Dr. Suprateek ("Supra") Sarker, the Rolls-Royce Commonwealth Commerce Professor at the University of Virginia, stands as a luminary in the field of Information Systems. With a career marked by exceptional contributions, he is dedicated to advancing the discipline and fostering inclusivity.

At the University of Virginia, Dr. Sarker imparts knowledge in data management, business intelligence (BI), and cultural immersion. His commitment extends to service on various committees, including the College-level Diversity Advisory Committee and the University-level Provost’s Committee for Tenure & Promotion. At this time, he also holds an Honorary Professorship at the University of Sydney and a Visiting Professorship at the London School of Economics, two globally-reputed institutions.

His work, often employing qualitative or mixed-method approaches, graces the pages of numerous journals, including Senior Scholars’ List of Premier Journals. His research explores diverse topics, from IS & human well-being, business process change and digital transformation, new technologies' societal impacts, and distributed work to IS ethics and the Sociotechnical Perspective.

Dr. Sarker's impact extends to editorial roles, where he has served as Editor-in-Chief of JAIS and JITCAR, and currently of ISR, and Senior Editor of ISR, MISQ, Decision Sciences, and I&O. His influence is not confined to academia, as he has engaged deeply with all three AIS regions, delivering keynote speeches, acting as a visiting professor, and examining dissertations worldwide.

His contributions have not gone unnoticed, with recognitions including being named a Fellow of the AIS, receiving the Stafford Beer Medal from The Operational Research Society, securing an NSF grant, and earning honorary doctorates from the Copenhagen Business School, Denmark and University of Jyväskylä, Finland.

Dr. Sarker's AIS involvement is extensive, encompassing roles as Editor-in-Chief of JAIS, Program Co-Chair of ICIS, Conference Co-Chair of ICIS, and leadership positions within AIS committees. He has demonstrated a commitment to excellence, innovation, inclusivity, and diversity throughout his career.
Dr. Sarker focused on enhancing the efficiency and financial sustainability of AIS activities. He aimed to strengthen AIS's external reputation, promoted inclusivity and engagement, and prepared the association for the digital future.
