AMCIS 2025 Outstanding Conference Service Leadership Award Recipients Announced

AMCIS 2025 in Montréal, Canada, the AIS Vice President of Conferences announced the following recipients of the AMCIS  Outstanding Conference Service Leadership Award:

 

Jacqueline Corbett

Jacqueline Corbett Jacqueline Corbett is Professor of Management Information Systems in the Faculty of Business Administration at Université Laval in Quebec City, Canada. Jacqueline came to academia following 15 years in the fintech sector, holding various management roles in client service, project management, and product management for a global treasury management solution. She holds a Ph.D. (MIS) from Queen’s University at Kingston, Canada. 


Jacqueline’s research interests center on the design and use of information systems (IS) to support sustainable development, particularly environmental sustainability, and Indigenous reconciliation. 
She takes a multidisciplinary and multi-method approach to investigate emerging questions and challenges with a view to cocreating knowledge and solutions with real-world benefits. 

Jacqueline has been an active member of the AIS community for over 15 years. She served as Co-chair of the AIS Women’s Network College from 2019 to 2021 and as president for SIG Green from 2023 to 2025. Since 2020, Jacqueline has been an Associate Editor for Communications of the Association for Information Systems. Jacqueline has also been active as a minitrack and track chair and Associate Editor at multiple conferences. Twice she has served on the AMCIS organizing committee: in 2021 as Chair for Workshops the Paper Development Sprint; and in 2025 as Program Co-chair. Jacqueline has also served on the AIS Early Career Award Committee for two years, including one as the Chair. In 2021, Jacqueline was recognized with the AIS Distinguished Member – Cum Laude designation and in 2024 she received the AIS Sandra Slaughter Service Award.

 

Monica Garfield

Description

Dr. Monica J. Garfield is Professor Emeritus of Computer Information Systems at Bentley University in Waltham, MA, USA. Her research explores how information technology can be leveraged to benefit society, support team development, and foster knowledge creation within the healthcare sector. Her current work focuses on applying data and IT to drive social good, with a particular emphasis on addressing homelessness. Dr. Garfield has authored more than 100 research articles and conference presentations. Her work has appeared in leading journals such as MIS Quarterly, Journal of Management Information Systems, and Communications of the ACM, among others. She serves as the international coordinator for the Information Systems Ph.D. program at Addis Ababa University in Ethiopia and has held various leadership roles within the Association for Information Systems (AIS), including Vice President of Region 1. During her tenure at Bentley, Dr. Garfield served as the department chair of CIS, helped launch the multi-disciplinary majors of AI and FinTech, and taught across Ph.D., MBA, MS, and BS programs, covering subjects such as databases, data-driven decision-making, and the strategic management of IT. She holds an A.B. from Vassar College, an M.B.A. and M.S. from Boston University, and a Ph.D. in Management Information Systems from the University of Georgia.

 

Fiona Nah

Description

Dr. Fiona Nah is a Professor of Information Systems in the School of Computing and Information Systems at the Singapore Management University. She is an AIS Fellow and a recipient of the Sandra Slaughter Service Award. She is also a recipient of the Top 50 Asia Women Tech Leaders Award in 2024. She is one of the top 2% most highly cited scientists based on single-year and career-long citations, according to a study by Stanford University. She is the Editor-in-chief of AIS Transactions on Human-Computer Interaction and a co-Founder of the AIS Special Interest Group on Human-Computer Interaction. She started serving as a minitrack co-chair at AMCIS in 1998 and as a track chair at AMCIS in 2004. Hence, her service for AMCIS spans over 2.5 decades!

 

Ramesh Sharda

Description Ramesh Sharda is the ConocoPhillips Chair and a Regents Professor of Management Science and Information Systems in the Spears School of Business at Oklahoma State University. He recently returned to faculty after serving as the Vice Dean for Graduate Programs and Research in Spears Business for more than 10 years. He has coauthored two textbooks ( Analytics, Data Science, and Artificial Intelligence: Systems for Decision Support, 11th edition, Pearson and Business Intelligence, Analytics, and Data Science: A Managerial Perspective , 5th Edition, Pearson). His research has been published in major journals in management science and information systems including Management Science, Operations Research, Information Systems Research, Decision Support Systems, Interfaces, INFORMS Journal on Computing, and many others. He is a member of the editorial boards of journals such as the Decision Support Systems, Decision Sciences, ACM Database, and others. Ramesh is a Fellow of INFORMS and AIS. He was the AMCIS Co-chair with Rob Nickerson for AMCIS 2009 (San Francisco) and 2016 (San Diego). 

Ramesh served as the Executive Director of Teradata University Network through 2020 and was inducted into the Oklahoma Higher Education Hall of Fame in 2016. Ramesh is also a co-founder of SIGDSA and the Big XII+ MIS Research Symposia series that has been active since 2003.
