The Association for Information Systems (AIS) is pleased to announce the official establishment of the Ireland Chapter of the Association for Information Systems (IAIS), approved at the AIS Council meeting in December 2024. This new Chapter serves the Island of Ireland comprising of Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. The Ireland Chapter aims to revitalize the vibrant exchange of ideas, experiences, and knowledge among scholars and professionals in information systems. By fostering collaboration and dialogue, the IAIS seeks to advance the development, management, and use of IS and technology across academia and industry. This renewal of the Irish Chapter (IAIS) aims to bring IS academics closer together, foster a dynamic environment for collaboration, and draw inspiration from a thriving Irish chapter. “The revitalization of the AIS chapter in Ireland strengthens the research and educational interests of scholars in Ireland,” stated AIS VP of Membership Isabel Ramos. “Congratulations to these dedicated AIS members for leading a new generation of the Ireland Chapter of AIS, fostering innovation and collaboration within the AIS community!" The IAIS is committed to enriching the Irish IS community through several activities: - Hosting locally focused forums to discuss IS challenges and opportunities.
- Facilitating professional exchanges among scholars and practitioners in both private and public sectors.
- Organizing programs, conferences, and paper development workshops to support emerging scholars and PhD students.
- Encouraging collaboration through in-person meetings and a dedicated PhD consortium.
With these efforts, the IAIS is set to become a cornerstone for IS scholarship and collaboration in Ireland, connecting local professionals to the global AIS network. The chapter, located in AIS Region 2, will be led by President Ashish Kumar Jha of Trinity College Dublin, Vice-President Rohit Madan of Queens University Belfast, Secretary Stephen McCarthy of University College Cork, and Treasurer Anastasia Griva of University of Galway.
