When you join the Association for Information Systems (AIS) as a member, exceptional opportunities become available including exciting opportunities to collaborate while getting first-hand access to the most relevant research. As an AIS member, you are eligible to join Special Interest Groups (SIGs), Chapters, and Colleges to grow your professional networks. These groups offer a range of leadership opportunities, specialized research events, and valuable professional connections to help you advance your career. What are the AIS Communities? AIS Communities fall into three categories: Special Interest Groups, Chapters, and Colleges. AIS Special Interest Groups (SIGs) – AIS has thirty-eight SIGs tailored to specific knowledge areas. In these groups, members can connect with like-minded individuals, collaborate on solutions, and delve into the latest insights in the field. SIGs are dedicated to developing and sharing knowledge with peers with similar research areas.AIS Chapters - AIS chapters, operating regionally and nationally across around the world, provide additional networking and support geographically near to your location. The 46 AIS chapters often host conferences and workshops, produce journal publications, and take strides to advance the standing of IS within their countries or regions. AIS Colleges - AIS colleges bring together colleagues with shared personal and professional characteristics, such as the AIS Women’s Network College, the Doctoral Student College, and the College of Academic Leadership. These communities focus on connecting peers to help each learn from their shared professional experiences.
What are the AIS Outstanding Communities? AIS Communities actively contribute to the information systems field by catering to specialized areas of study, geographic locations, and shared professional interests. Each year, AIS recognizes the strongest and most active SIGs, Chapters, and Colleges with the Outstanding Community designation to celebrate their contributions to advancing knowledge and promoting excellence in the practice and study of information systems. To qualify for the designation, leaders of AIS Communities seeking this designation must submit an annual report by March 8, 2024 for consideration. How do I get involved? It’s easy to join an AIS Community mid-membership year! To join a specific group, use the category links above to navigate to each SIG, Chapter, or College’s online description. There you will see an option to join the group directly. There may be a small fee to join and depending on your career stage or geographic location, discounts may be available.
