AIS Welcomes Seven New Members to Council

The Association for Information Systems is pleased to welcome seven new council members on September 1, 2022. 

Suprateek Sarker, University of Virginia, will assume the role of AIS President on September 1 following Patrick Chau, University of Nottingham Ningbo. Chau will remain as part of the AIS Leadership Team and AIS Council as Immediate Past-President to maintain continuity among the leadership. Nancy Pouloudi, Athens University of Economics and Business, begins her term as the Association’s President-Elect. 

Brian Fitzgerald, Lero, University of Limerick, ends his term as Immediate Past-President where he was instrumental in the creation of the Virtual Conference Series. Fitzgerald will remain on the council as a Member At-Large for the next year.

Isabel Ramos, University of Minho, begins her three-year term as Vice President of Member Services and Chapters. Ramos succeeds Helle Zinner Henriksen, Copenhagen Business School, in this role. During her term, Zinner Henriksen was instrumental in the launch of the Ephraim McLean scholarship and Distinguished Member program as well as the chartering of seven new chapters.

Chee-Wee Tan, Copenhagen Business School, begins his three-year term as Vice President of Publications. The role was previously held by Rajiv Kohli, College of William and Mary. During his term, Kohli was instrumental in spearheading the association’s approach and strategy with Open Access and establishing roles for two Associate Vice Presidents of Indexing.

Guillermo Rodriguez Abitia, College of William and Mary, begins his three-year term as Vice President of Conferences. Rodriguez Abitia succeeds Traci Carte, Illinois State University, in this role. During her term, Carte was instrumental in the oversight of the successful Virtual Conference Series, the recent hybrid conference offerings, and the creation of the AMCIS Outstanding Service Leadership Award.

Juan (Jane) Feng, Tsinghua University, begins her three-year term as Vice President of Region 3 representing members in Asia and the Pacific. Feng follows Atreyi Kankanhalli, University of Singapore, in this role. During her term, Kankanhalli was instrumental in membership growth in the region and strengthening the association’s relationship with PACIS even further, as well as supporting the creation of the Ting Peng Liang PACIS Young Scholar Award.  

Ryan Wright, University of Virginia, co-chair of ICIS 2021, will serve as the ICIS Representative for one year. Wright follows Souren Paul, Northern Kentucky University, in this role.

Scott Boss, Bentley University, has accepted the position of Council Treasurer on September 1. He follows Vishal Midha, Illinois State University, in this role.
