Dr. Iris Junglas was recently named the Editor-in-Chief of MIS Quarterly Executive (MISQE). Over her 25-year career, she has worked for both academia and a variety of consulting firms, inside and outside the United States. As the Noah T. Leask Distinguished Professor of Information Management and Innovation at the College of Charleston, Junglas’ research sits at the intersection of technology innovation and business analytics, focusing on how emerging technologies impact organizations, individuals, and societies.
“Iris brings extensive experience as a practitioner. As an academician who has continued to work with practitioners, Iris is well positioned to advance the mission of MIS Quarterly Executive,” said Rajiv Kohli, AIS Vice President of Publications. “The nominating committee members — Mary Lacity, Gabe Piccoli, Federico Pigni, Chris Wagner, and I — were impressed with Iris’s vision to promote scholarly research that is written for a practitioner audience.”
Dr. Junglas has published more than 50 refereed journal articles in outlets, including the European Journal of Information Systems, Information Systems Journal, Journal of the Association of Information Systems, Journal of Strategic Information Systems and Management Information Systems Quarterly. In addition to Management Information Systems Quarterly Executive, she has served as a Senior Editor for the European Journal of Information Systems and the Journal of Strategic Information Systems, as well as an Associate Editor for the Communications of the AIS.
Junglas has been a frequent contributor to the Management Information Systems Quarterly Executive, including her paper with Oliver Mueller, Jan vom Brocke, and Stefan Debortoli on “Deriving business value from unstructured data” that previously won the annual AIS Best Paper award. She is also a Fulbright Scholar from Maynooth University in Ireland.
“I am looking forward to continuing to push towards MISQE’s unique mission -- encouraging and showcasing relevant and credible IS scholarship with an emphasis on recommendations for practice, while also increasing the pool of authors willing and able to effectively communicate with our executive audience,” said Junglas.
