CABS Academic Journal Guide Recognizes High Quality of Five IS Journals

Thursday, July 1, 2021   (0 Comments)

It is an honor to announce five IS Journals have been upgraded by the CABS Academic Journal Guide (AJG). The five journals include, Journal of the Association for Information Systems (JAIS), European Journal of Information Systems (EJIS), Information Systems Journal (ISJ), Journal of Information Technology (JIT), and Journal of Strategic Information Systems (JSIS). The AJG is released every three years with the main purpose of assisting researchers to make an informed decision on where they should publish their research. Following the evaluation of hundreds of publications, the rankings are based on peer review, editorial, and expert judgements.

This is a wonderful collective achievement by the entire AIS community,” stated Brian Fitzgerald, AIS President. “– the editorial teams who lead our journals so capably, the members who review and improve the quality of the submissions, the authors who create the high-quality papers, and of course those members who advocated and supported the strategy which led to this most recent success. Our entire AIS community can take pride in this achievement.”

The Journal of the Association for Information Systems has been upgraded from 4 to 4*. The 4* upgrade recognizes JAIS as a Journal of Distinction in the AJG ranking system.

We are very excited to see JAIS elevated to the 4* ranking and be recognized among the best IS journals in the world,” said JAIS Editor-in-chief, Dorothy E. Leidner. “This acknowledgement not only speaks to the high caliber of research our authors are submitting, but also to the profound effort the entire editorial board has put forth to continue to elevate the quality of the journal.  JAIS promotes innovative, interesting, and rigorously developed conceptual and empirical contributions, and this distinguished journal ranking helps us to achieve that vision.  We are grateful to all those who have supported JAIS in the rankings deliberations and are especially grateful to Joe Nandhakumar and Cathy Urquhart for their role on the CABS Scientific Committee advocating on behalf of all the AIS basket of eight journals. The new rankings are wonderful news for IS scholars around the world.”

Alongside JAIS, European Journal of Information Systems (EJIS), Information Systems Journal (ISJ), Journal of Information Technology (JIT), and Journal of Strategic Information Systems (JSIS) have been upgraded from 3 to 4 in the rankings.

Guy Gable, Editor-in-Chief of JSIS stated, “Well done Cathy Urquhart and Joe Nandhakumar, representing the AIS and the basket journals to the AJG refresh. Credit also to the AIS College of Senior Scholars. Now with 4 A* and 4 A journals, the basket even more clearly demonstrates the strength, quality and impact of IS research.”

Please join us in congratulating all of those who have dedicated so much time and energy to ensure these journals possess quality publications.
