ECIS 2021 Names Best Paper Winners

Thank you to all who participated in ECIS 2021, the first of three events in the AIS Virtual Conference Series. ECIS welcomed more than 800 attendees who participated in a keynote, paper sessions, panels and networking rooms.

ECIS 2021 had 683 papers submitted within 24 insightful and impactful conference tracks. Submitted and accepted papers, as well as video presentations, are available in the AIS eLibrary. Visitors of the eLibrary have an opportunity to leave comments for the authors and continue discussing the paper asynchronously. Keynote session and panel recording are also available.

ECIS 2021 Awards:

The Claudio Ciborra Runner-Up included, "Algoactivistic Practices in Ridesharing- A Topic Modeling & Grounded Theory Approach" by Jennifer Jiang, Martin Adam & Alexander Benlian and "Chatbots Often Fail! Can Anthropomorphic Design Mitigate Trust Loss in Conversational Agents for Customer Service?" by Anna-Maria Seeger & Armin Heinzl

The Claudio Ciborra Award went to, "When Data Becomes Infrastructure and Our Lives Depend On It" by E. Burton Swanson

Runner Up for Best Research-in-Progress Paper went to, "AI for Tackling Hate Speech" by Claudia Loebbecke, Anh Chi Luong, & Astrid Obeng-Antwi

Winner of the Best Research in-Progress Paper went to, "The Ethics of Information Systems: The Present State of the Discussion and Avenues for Future Work" by Alexander Bock, Sergio Espana, Jens Gulden, Katharina Jahn,Livinus Obiora Nweke, & Andreas Richter.

Runners-up for Best Research Paper included, "How Can Older Adults Shop Online in the Future? Developing Principles for Virtual-Commerce Stores." by Rehan Iftikhar, Gültekin Cakir, Tabitha Wruck & Markus Helfert and "Is It All About Transparency? The Effectiveness and Ethics of a Digital Salience Nudge" by Leonard Michels, Kathrin Schmitt, Jessica Ochmann, Sven Laumer & Verena Tiefenbeck

Winner of the ECIS 2020 Best Research Paper included, "Platform Over Market- When Is Joining A Platform Beneficial?" by Marius Schmid, Kazem Haki, Hüseyin Tanriverdi, Stephan Aier & Robert Winter
