Professor Jan Pries-Heje was recently appointed knight of the Order of the Dannebrog. The Order of the Dannebrog is a means of honoring and rewarding the faithful servants of the Danish state for meritorious civil or military service, for a particular contribution to the arts, sciences or business life, or for working for Danish interests. Jan Pries-Heje is Professor of Information Systems and Computer Science at Roskilde University. His research focuses on organizational and managerial aspects of IT development and application, and he is the author of more than 250 books and research articles in international journals in the field. "I am proud of the recognition of my work as an internationally oriented researcher that lies in it. I am especially pleased that an action and design-oriented researcher in Information Systems like me can get the recognition that lies in the Knight's Cross,” said Pries-Heje. Jan Pries-Heje is currently working on a major EU research project called Intelligrid, which is popularly about changing the behavior of ordinary households to use electricity when the wind is blowing and the sun is shining. This behavioral change is needed because there are no real effective ways to store electricity for longer periods yet. The project is part of a larger research effort on sustainable digitization, which is also the name of the research group at Roskilde University that Jan Pries-Heje is heading. This summer, Jan Pries-Heje has published a book on "Agile projects" with cases from more than 20 years of research into how to work faster with IT development, while at the same time being prepared for and embracing changes.
