Journal of the Association for Information Systems FT50 Consideration

Thursday, December 3, 2020   (0 Comments)

The Financial Times (FT) is currently reviewing its FT50 ranking of leading academic publications. This month (December 2020), the FT is conducting a survey of senior administration and faculty in business schools to get input into the next iteration. AIS supports the addition of its flagship journal – the Journal of the Association for Information Systems – to the FT list of leading academic publications. The following link will take you to a survey if you would like to express your support for JAIS -- survey here.

The JAIS editorial team is committed to upholding the highest standards of review and publication. JAIS is broad in methodological scope, publishing qualitative, experimental, econometric, survey-based, and design research as well as review/theory research. The journal receives more than 400 new submissions each year and publishes between 40 and 50 papers per year. More than 68,000 JAIS papers have been downloaded in the past year.  The current 5-year impact factor for JAIS is 4.644.  JAIS is currently one of only four IS journals rated at the 4/4* level by CABS ( https://charteredabs.org/academic-journal-guide-2018/ ) and is one of only 5 IS journals to have the highest ranking in the Chinese rating system (the FMS A rating --  http://www.fms-journal.net/journals?lang=en_us ).  There are currently only three IS journals in the FT50 list. IS journals account for just 6% of the FT list whereas IS faculty in business schools are typically 8-10% of business school faculty.  We strongly support the addition of JAIS to the FT list of leading academic journals.

AIS members might consider reaching out to senior administrators and/ or faculty within your institutions to encourage support of JAIS or in support any of the other exemplary Information Systems scholarly journals they would like considered for inclusion in the FT50 ranking.   For further questions, please contact Dorothy Leidner, JAIS Editor-in-Chief.
