A Message from Ryan, Wright, Vice President of Membership and Chapters

Thank you for being a member of AIS. Because of you, the association continues to serve as one of the leading providers of services to members in the field of information systems with more amenities and enhancements to current services planned in the coming years.

Through feedback from members, AIS has implemented many updates to its most-used services in recent years, including updates to the AIS website, AIS eLibrary, AIS conferences and AIS Career Services  portal. Additional recent and upcoming improvements also include:

  • The addition of many community groups (SIGs, Colleges and Chapters) for members to expand their networks based on research interests, geographic region and professional interest. At least one new College and one new Chapter are expected to be added in 2019.
  • The expansion of partnerships with leading services and conferences in the IS community, including Eduglopedia, Research Ranking Services, IT Job Index, ECIS and PACIS.
  • The AIS eLibrary received improvements in usability, access and offerings. In addition to technology updates to make the eLibrary more user friendly through mobile, https and conference app integration, DOI tags were added to articles in the AIS-owned journals and more are expected to be added in 2019. Now featuring more than 41,000 works, the AIS eLibrary continues to be the most-used resource available to AIS members.

Through this period of expansion in the member services area, AIS has continued to keep dues at the rate set more than six years ago. At the December AIS Council meeting, leadership discussed the strategic direction of the organization and it became evident that the association needs to adjust membership dues to not only continue offering these critical services, but also evolve and future-proof the association.

A vote was taken to approve a slight increase of on average of eight percent effective January 28, 2019. This decision was not taken lightly and many options were considered during this in-depth discussion. This is the first dues increase the association has seen in six years.

We would like to encourage members to renew their membership prior to the dues increase on January 28. Click here to login to your AIS account and start the renewal process today. If you need help or have a membership questions, please contact the AIS Membership Team at membership@aisnet.org.

I want to take this opportunity to also thank our volunteer Council members and the AIS staff for their service to our nearly 4,500 members in more than 100 countries. It is my 4th year working with this fine group, and it is more apparent to me than ever that Council and staff have AIS members’ best interests at heart in every decision.

Thank you for your continued dedication to AIS and the field of Information Systems.
