The Association
for Information Systems (AIS)
is seeking qualified candidates for the
volunteer position of
Vice
President of Technology. The current
VP of Technology,
Andrew
Schwarz, is stepping down
after a successful two terms in office.
Everyone
at AIS is grateful for Andy's many years of
service on council and
for his countless contributions
to
the association.

therefore, seeking
to fill
this important
position. Applications
will
be evaluated
by
the AIS Nominating Committee and
a
recommendation
of
the leading candidate
will
be
presented to AIS Council for
approval at the December Council
meeting.
 
 POSITION
OVERVIEW
 Term of Office: Three years
(July 1,
2013 - June 30,
2016). As
outlined in the AIS
Bylaws, the
Vice President of Technology shall oversee
all AIS technologies
and systems and provide strategic guidance
to council on
future technology development. This
includes developing plans
for
improving
AIS
technologies and
systems and
making recommendations to the Council regarding new
strategic investments in
technology
(as needed). This also
will
require the preparation
and submission of
an annual report to AIS Council on the
status of
AIS
technology
and technology-related activities.
 
 The Vice President
of Technology
is a
voting member
of AIS
Council
and also appoints and
serves as chair of the AIS Technology Committee. The Technology Committee provides
policy, advisory and
oversight functions for
all AIS technologies and
systems. This
includes
providing recommendations on the
strategic direction
and development of
all new
technology
investments for AIS, new capabilities
in which AIS
should invest in and
assessments on how AIS systems can be better integrated
and
can better meet the
needs of

 TIME COMMITMENT
 There are a number of quarterly and
annual duties of
which
prospective candidates
should be
aware. These include,
but are not limited to:
 
Quarterly: Prepare status
     report for and participate in quarterly AIS Council meetings.  Meetings
     in March and September are virtual, and meetings in June and December are
     face-to-face (the latter at ICIS and the former at a yet to be determined
     location) Annually: Prepare annual report for
     Council on the status of AIS technology and technology related activitiesAs
     needed:
     Periodic reviews of new AIS technology-related issues, and periodic
     meetings with the AIS Technology Committee        
      
 POSITION
REQUIREMENTS
 Member
     of AISDegree(s) in
     information systems
     and/or computer science preferredRelevant work experience a plusLeadership experience in
     strategic decision-making and committee leadershipMust commit to attending
     two virtual and two face-to-face Council meetings in
each of the three years of the term
(the vice president is responsible for his/her own travel expenses and
conference attendance fees)
