1. Why did you originally join AIS, and what has kept you involved?
As I began my doctoral journey during the pandemic when networking opportunities were limited, attending ICIS 2021’s Doctoral Student Corner gave me a sense of connection. Contributing to a research community where I feel a strong sense of belonging has been deeply fulfilling. What truly inspires me is the dedication of DSC volunteers who work across time zones and the continued support from past leaders who remain engaged beyond their doctoral years. The shared commitment to fostering meaningful dialogue and student-led initiatives makes the DSC community truly special.
2. What's a recent professional accomplishment you're proud of?
A recent professional accomplishment I am proud of is completing my PhD and beginning my transition into a faculty role. I am deeply grateful to my advisors, Dr. AJ Burns and Dr. Andrew Schwarz, for their guidance throughout this journey. The AIS Doctoral Student College has also played a significant role in this process. Colleagues who experienced the job market before me shared valuable materials. Their practical advice was especially meaningful and made a real difference in reaching this milestone.
3. What's the best career advice you've ever received?
The best career advice I have received is to focus on the process rather than the outcome. Publishing, teaching or going on the job market can bring uncertainty, but staying committed to consistent effort and thoughtful work builds long-term success and resilience.
4. What's a hidden talent, interesting hobby, or fun fact you'd like to share about yourself?
A fun fact about me is that I enjoy spotting reasoning errors, solving logic puzzles and optimizing everyday tasks. At times, I take it a bit too far and end up overoptimizing in ways that are more amusing than practical.
