The Junior Faculty Consortium is a professional development/enrichment experience for early career-stage faculty, starting the 1st, 2nd or 3rd year of their first academic faculty appointment. The Consortium is an opportunity for junior faculty to engage with a team of senior faculty mentors through a variety of interactive exercises and activities designed to provide career guidance and share insights gained over years of experience and success in a variety of academic career paths.

This workshop presents practical skills in managing data by exploring the trends and key platforms for big data analytics and visualization. AMCIS attendees teaching and conducting research in the analytics area will benefit from exposure to big data technologies and data visualization tools such as Aster Discovery Platform and SAS Visual Analytics.

This workshop focuses locational analytics and spatial analysis as a research area within MIS. It provides the background from leading researchers and practitioners on how spatial analytics and GIS offer new and promising avenues for MIS research, what the current status is of locational/spatial research is across the MIS community, and how leading business practitioners apply spatial analytics for decision-making. The invited speaker from Esri Inc. will cover GIS analytics in medicine and health care.

This is a grants writing workshop in where participants learn various sources of grant funding (e.g. federal, foundations, industry) and strategies for writing grants. Participants will learn the elements of a grant and best practices. The class will start with the basics of grant writing then move to developing a grant proposal. Participants should think of ideas ahead of time and be prepared to start working on a grant application while participating in the session.

This workshop is for Set-Theoretic Methods: Qualitative Comparative Analysis (QCA) for IS Research. It consists of two sessions: 1)introduction of QCA, a set-theoretic method to build a configurational theory and speech by distinguished IS scholars about developing IS theories with QCA, and 2) discussion for helping working papers that use or plan to use QCA.

This space will be available throughout the conference to provide a place for doctoral students to network and relax between conference events.
