The AIS Doctoral Student College is hosting a panel on “Beyond Borders: Nurturing Diversity & Inclusivity in IS” with the participation of esteemed faculty panelists who will share their insights and experiences on this important topic. The 1.5 hour panel event aims to create a safe and supportive space for IS doctoral students to openly discuss how to promote diversity and inclusion among doctoral students and faculty. Furthermore, the discussion aims to recognize the necessity and obstacles in extending engagement to and including researchers from Africa and the Middle East. Recent dialogues at this year's ECIS by AIS have underscored this critical concern. Notably, forums such as the recent African ECIS Workshop, the ECIS 2023 Women’s Network Lunch, and the ECIS 2023 Opening Ceremony have served as crucial platforms for delving into this matter. Through these discussions, the imperative to better integrate and support researchers from these regions into the global scholarly community has been foregrounded, alongside an exploration of the many sensitive challenges that lie on the path toward achieving this inclusivity and nurturing future engagement. In addition to the panel discussion, the event will include an engaging Q&A session.
