The next virtual Early-Stage Researcher Professional Development series event will take place on Friday, August 26 at 1 p.m. CDT. Travis Howell, Assistant Professor at the University of California, Irvine, will share his thoughts on the academic job market, his experiences in his first two years as a professor, and the knowledge he has gained as an early career faculty member. This session is open to 20 early-stage researchers.

Dr. Howell’s research focuses primarily on early-stage entrepreneurship, with a particular focus on the people within and around startups. Recent research also considers the increasing popularity of coworking spaces, in which communities of founders interact with and learn from one another. His research has been funded by the Kauffman Foundation, the Strategy Research Foundation, and the Kenan Institute of Private Enterprise. Before entering academia, Dr. Howell worked as a consultant at PwC and at two startups.
