The June 2021 Editorial of MIS Quarterly outlined a new initiative starting in 2022, to help enhance the transparency of the research it publishes (details here: https://misq.org/misq/downloads/download/editorial/722/). This is an important initiative for the journal, and for the field as a whole, and the editors would like to take the opportunity to answer any questions authors may have. Moderated by Professor Rajiv Kohli, AIS VP Publications, come along and listen to the editors outline the new policy and take the opportunity to discuss the initiative, ask any questions, and offer recommendations for how to take it further. About the Panelists: Wai Fong Boh is Professor of Information Systems at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore. She is currently the Deputy Dean of Nanyang Business School (NBS), Head of the Division of Information Technology and Operations Division, and Director of Information Management Research Centre at NBS. She received her PhD from the Tepper School of Business at the Carnegie Mellon University. Her research interests are in the areas of knowledge and innovation management and entrepreneurship. She has published in leading IS and management journals, including Management Science, MIS Quarterly, Academy of Management Journal, Organization Science, Journal of Management Information Systems, Journal of Association Information Systems, Research Policy, and Information & Organization. She is currently a Senior Editor of MIS Quarterly, and is currently on or has been previously on the editorial board of multiple journals, including Journal of Management Information Systems, Management Science, Information Systems Research, Organization Science, and Information & Organization.
Andrew Burton-Jones is a Professor of Business Information Systems at the UQ Business School, University of Queensland, Australia. Andrew undertakes research on how effectively organisations use IT, how to improve the methods organisations use to analyse and design IT systems, and how to improve theories and methods used in IS research. Currently, much of his research is situated in the health sector. Prior to his academic career, he was a senior consultant in a big-4 accounting/consulting firm. He is a Fellow of the Association for Information Systems and the current Editor-in-Chief of MIS Quarterly. Rajiv Kohli is the John. N. Dalton Professor of Business at William & Mary. Dr. Kohli received his PhD in information systems from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. He has taught at the University of Notre Dame, Lehigh University, University of Maryland College Park, and University of Maryland University College where he was awarded the Teaching Recognition Award. Studies have ranked Dr. Kohli among the top 20 MIS researchers worldwide. Dr. Kohli is ranked as #1 scholar in a recent study on Health Information Technology (HIT) thought leadership. Eivor Oborn is current Professor of Healthcare Management in the area of Innovation and Organisational Change at Warwick Business School, UK. She earned her PhD at Cambridge Judge Business School in 2006 as a Gates Scholar. Eivor is currently an honorary Fellow at Cambridge Judge Business School and Visiting Scholar at House of Innovation, Stockholm School of Economics. Eivor has published work in leading journals, including Academy of Management Journal, Organization Science, ISR and MISQ. She is currently SE at MISQ. Her research interests span the fields of healthcare, digital innovation & ICTs, and organisational theory. Balaji Padmanabhan is a Senior Editor at MIS Quarterly and is Professor of Information Systems at USF's Muma College of Business, where he is also the Director of the Center for Analytics and Creativity. He has a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras and a PhD from New York University (NYU)’s Stern School of Business. He has published extensively in the areas of data science at premier journals and conferences in the field and has served on the editorial board of leading journals including Management Science, MIS Quarterly, INFORMS Journal on Computing, Information Systems Research, Big Data, ACM Transactions on MIS and the Journal of Business Analytics.
