ICIS 2028 Heads to Cape Town, South Africa

The Association for Information Systems (AIS) is excited to announce that the International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS) 2028 will take place in Cape Town, South Africa, from December 6-13, 2028. This historic decision was approved by the AIS Council on March 26, 2025, marking the first time ICIS will be held on the African continent.

Cape Town is a city of extraordinary cultural diversity, technological innovation, and natural beauty. Nestled beneath Table Mountain—one of the New Seven Wonders of the World—the city offers breathtaking landscapes, world-class cuisine, and a dynamic academic and professional community.

Bringing ICIS to Africa represents a significant step in AIS’s commitment to global collaboration. While ICIS has been hosted across Europe, North America, and Asia/Pacific, this move expands our reach, welcoming new voices and perspectives from Africa’s growing IS community. Holding the conference in Cape Town will provide an opportunity for scholars worldwide to engage with Africa’s unique challenges and solutions, fostering fresh insights and long-term partnerships.
