Hello
and thank you for being a member of AIS. Every March we ask members from
across our global Association to take part in one of the most important
activities you do as a member, which is to cast your vote in the annual AIS
Council elections. AIS Council is the highest governing board in the
Association and consistent with our bylaws, elections to Council are conducted
once a year to fill the positions of Council members whose terms are expiring
in the upcoming year. Most Council member terms are three years in length
and we sincerely appreciate the time, leadership, dedication and contributions
of all Council members. Thank-you for your service!
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank all candidates who are willing to run for AIS Council and place their name and their platform on the ballot, especially to those who may not win the election. It requires a great deal of courage, time and commitment to put yourself "out there" and we sincerely appreciate your willingness to serve the community. You can review all candidate platforms for the open positions and cast your vote in 2025 AIS Council elections here (https://aisnet.org/general/custom.asp?page=2025CouncilElection). On a final note, we have received some inquiries and concerns regarding the recent Executive Orders (EO) in the US by the current US President Trump. Myself, the AIS VP of DEI, members of AIS staff and others have been monitoring the rapidly evolving situation in recent weeks. We will also be discussing this topic in the upcoming AIS Council meetings later this month and in July. If there are any announcements that need to be made or changes that may become necessary as a result of these EOs (or their subsequent legislation and / or interpretation) they will be made following the upcoming AIS Council meetings. Our values at AIS are central to everything we do and will inform all such discussions and actions. In the meantime, if you have comments, concerns or questions regarding these recent EOs please feel free to send them to the following email address (aisdeicomments@aisnet.org). We will be monitoring this email box and welcome your feedback and comments from members within the US, outside the US and beyond. Thank you again for being a member of AIS. As the Beginning of the Year message expressed in January, AIS is celebrating our 30th Anniversary with the highest membership levels on record, the highest readership levels in the AIS eLibrary, and the highest paper submission levels at an AIS conference with ICIS 2024 in Bangkok. It is a remarkable time to be a part of the Association and the entire Beginning of the Year message can be read here;(https://aisnet.org/news/691287/Recognizing-the-Strength-of-the-Global-AIS-Community-Year-in-Review-.htm). As we move forward in 2025, AIS will continue reaching out across all corners of our global community and together we will continue our mission of serving society in the advancement of knowledge and excellence in the study and profession of information systems. With Warm Regards, Andrew Burton-Jones AIS President |
