The Institute for Business and Information Technology at Temple University, in collaboration with the Association for Information Systems and with sponsorship from Kyndryl, is proud to announce the release of the 2024 IS Job Index. This publication provides the only comprehensive longitudinal analysis of the entry-level job market in information systems (IS) within the United States. Inaugurated in 2013 and published every two years, the Information Systems Job Index provides a national longitudinal assessment of jobs, placement, demographics, job search and acceptance trends, geographical patterns, and knowledge of IS, management information systems (MIS), and computer information systems (CIS) graduates. Each report is based on data from several thousand labor market entrants across more than 30 universities in the United States. Top insights from the 2024 report include: - Project Management, Consulting, and Software Development remain the highest-paying roles for IS graduates, with Data/Analytics emerging as the most popular job type, now accounting for 24.5% of placements among Bachelor's graduates.
- IS salaries continue to outpace those of typical business majors, averaging $77,758 for Bachelor's and $96,164 for Master's graduates, with notable salary growth in the Mountain and New England regions.
- Internships significantly boost job prospects, nearly doubling the likelihood of receiving an offer.
- Female representation among Master's IS graduates has surpassed broader business school averages.
- Job acceptance trends highlight the importance of fairness in the recruitment process, while competitive salaries remain a key advantage of pursuing IS careers.
This data is particularly useful for parents, students, and employers, as well as faculty and deans in higher education. The findings can be leveraged to promote IS programs and highlight their achievements to prospective students and employers. For the full report, please visit https://isjobindex.com/.
