SCLC 2025 Competition Details Released and Remarks on a Successful 2024 SCOLC

The 2024 Student Chapters Online Leadership Conference was held virtually on November 8 and welcomed attendees from all over the world! The premier event for the conference was the AIS Software Innovation Challenge. This challenge allowed competitors to demonstrate the impact Information Systems can have in improving the world. Teams designed and implemented an innovative IS solution based on their choice of a number of parameters—focusing mostly on the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals. “I want to thank all the staff and volunteers from around the world for their work for the Student Chapters Online Leadership Conference 2024,” said AVP of Student Chapters, Dr. Gladys Simpson of Florida International University. “I also want to express my enthusiasm for the Student Chapters Leadership Conference 2025 hosted by The University of Alabama and the hard work their team has been doing.” “This online conference marks the first under my tenure as AVP of Global Expansion and I am proud of how many individuals from around the world were able to attend,” said Dr. Babu Veeresh Thummadi of Dublin City University. “The competition submissions for this year showed the judges that there is a lot of talent and innovative ideas coming from our current student chapters globally. I look forward to the conferences to come and continuing our mission to promote the study, application, and advancement of information systems.” The winners of the competition were 1st Place: BINUS University (Indonesia) Castigator 2nd Place: Temple University (United States) Tech for Tummies 3rd Place: Florida International University (United States) NextGen As a first for 2024, the innovation challenge also incorporated a student showcase to allow competitors to share their submission with all attendees who could vote on their favorite. The student choice award was won by Temple University with Tech for Tummies. Other highlights of the conference included: - Global Roundtable with Industry Experts

- Key Insights from the 2024 IS Job Index Results
- Michael Dinger of Baylor University shared current trends and opportunities in the industry from the forthcoming 2024 IS Job Index.
Finally, the planning team from the University of Alabama held an info session where they shared important details about the 2025 AIS Student Chapter Leadership Conference to be held March 27-29, 2025 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama USA. Sponsors from each of the six competition tracks revealed challenge prompts and answer questions from the student audience. AIS Student Chapter members are invited to propose 55-minute student-led panels for SCLC 2025—featuring 40 minutes of content and 15 minutes for discussion—that provide professional growth, peer engagement, and career-enhancing opportunities.
