It is with deep sorrow and profound sadness that we convey the tragic news of the passing of longtime member Dr. “Jerry” Cha-Han Chang of the University of Nevada - Las Vegas (UNLV). Professor Chang earned his Ph.D. in Management Information Systems from the University of Pittsburgh back in 2001. He joined the Department of MIS at UNLV the same year as Associate Professor. Over his 20+ career with UNLV he became Assistant Professor in 2007 and full Professor in 2014. His primary research interest was in measuring the performance of the IS function. Other central research interests included instrument development, self-efficacy, software piracy, use and impact of IT, culture aspects of IS, management of IS, IS offshoring, human computer interaction, organizational learning, and strategic planning. Dr. Chang participated in the International Conference of Information Systems (ICIS) in numerous roles over the past 20 years. He participated in the 1999 ICIS Doctoral Consortium, served as a Track Chair at ICIS, was on the ICIS Executive Committee from 2004-2006, was a past treasurer for ICIS, and had publications with multiple IS Journals. “On behalf of the Association for Information Systems, we would like to express our heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of Professor Chang,” stated AIS President Nancy Pouloudi. “His intellectual contributions and leadership have had a significant impact on ICIS and our AIS community.” Updates about memorial services will be made by UNLV can be found here. A moment of silence will be held at the ICIS 2023 conference in honor of Dr. Chang. We invite members of the Information Systems family to share their memories and condolences below.
