New in 2023: Senior Scholars’ List of Premier Journals

Earlier this year, the AIS College of Senior Scholars expanded the Basket of Eight Journals to include three additional journals. The Senior Scholars’ List of Premier Journals is exclusive to the field of IS, omits multidisciplinary outlets and specialty areas; nonetheless, it acknowledges diversity in topics, methodologies, and geography, while boasting stringent review processes, esteemed editorial board members, and a global readership and contribution. The newly expanded list includes these journals (in alphabetical order):

• Information and Organization
• Information Systems Journal
• Information Systems Research
• Journal of the AIS
• Journal of Information Technology
• Journal of MIS
• Journal of Strategic Information Systems
• MIS Quarterly

The AIS College of Senior Scholars encourages colleagues, as well as deans and department chairs, to treat a list of premier journals as the top journals in our field. Such a list is intended to provide more consistency and meaningfulness to tenure and promotion cases.   

The AIS College of Senior Scholars consists of senior information systems academics who have served as editors-in-chief of the journals listed in the College of Senior Scholars list of premier journals, current and former ICIS chairs and program chairs, current and former presidents of AIS, as well as all LEO Awards winners and AIS Fellows.
