Act Now: Nominate a Colleague for an AIS Award and Make History before the October 7th Deadline

For more than 20 years, AIS has honored the accomplishments of our members and their contributions to the association and the field of information systems. Nominations are now accepted for each of the following awards recognizing member achievements and innovations in research, teaching, and service: 

  • Established in 1999, the AIS LEO Award is named for the world’s first business application of computing (The Lyons Electronic Office). The award was established by the AIS Council and the ICIS Executive Committee and is a singular honor to recognize seminal work benefitting the field.
  • The AIS Fellow Award was established in 1999 by the AIS Council and the ICIS Executive Committee to recognize outstanding contributions to the discipline in terms of research, teaching, and service.
  • Three AIS Technology Awards honor those in the IS community who have made significant contributions to the development of association technology, and these include the VISION, ATLAS, and Challenge Awards were established in 2003.
  • There are three awards in the Education category: AIS Award for Innovation in Teaching, AIS Award for Outstanding Contribution to IS Education, and AIS Award for Best Conference Paper in IS Education. The AIS Award for Innovation in Teaching and AIS Award for Best Conference Paper in IS Education were first awarded in 2012. The AIS Award for Outstanding Contribution to IS Education was awarded in 2011. 
  • The Sandra Slaughter Service Award was established in 2014 and was granted for the first time in 2015. The award honors Slaughter who served as Region 1 Representative on the AIS Council by recognizing longstanding members who have provided leadership and service within the association.
  • The AIS Doctoral Student Service Award, granted for the first time in 2015, recognizes volunteer contributions made by doctoral students toward the success of AIS conferences, journals, and programs.
  • The AIS Early Career Award, created in 2014 and first awarded in 2015, honors early-career professionals who have demonstrated exceptional contributions in research, teaching, and/or service within the field of information systems.
  • The AIS Mid-Career Award recognizes individuals in the middle stages of their careers who have already made outstanding research, teaching, and/or service contributions to the field of information systems. (Nominations deadline: September 23)
  • The Outreach Practice Publication Award was first awarded in 2016 to honor practice-based publications making a significant impact by transferring research findings successfully to practitioner audiences.
  • The AIS Impact Award recognizes information systems research with widespread impact on practice in business and society and was established in 2020.
