AIS Honors Top IS Leadership and Research at ICIS 2022

The Association for Information Systems honored leaders in the field of information systems during the 2022 International Conference on Information Systems in Copenhagen Denmark. Honored scholars and students have demonstrated exemplary efforts to educate, research, and serve the field through continued engagement and contribution.
The AIS Leadership Excellence Award is given annually to a single person for leadership and innovation in the use and development of information systems. Executive Vice-President
Margrethe Vestager is the recipient of the 2022 AIS Leadership Excellence Award. Ms. Vestager, who has demonstrated exemplary leadership and innovation in the use and development of information systems, was the keynote speaker in Copenhagen.
The AIS LEO Award for Lifetime Exceptional Achievement in information systems, named after one of the world’s first commercial applications of computing (The Lyons Electronic Office),
recognizes truly outstanding individuals in the information systems community, both academics and practitioners, who have made exceptional contributions to research in and/or the practice of information systems. The 2022 AIS LEO Award winners are:

The AIS Outreach Practice Publication Award recognize members who successfully transfer research to practitioner audiences in practice-based publications. The 2022
Outreach Practice Publication Award was awarded to Yoshimasa Masuda, Carnegie Mellon University/Keio University/Tokyo University of Science for “Enterprise Architecture for Global Companies in a Digital IT Era: Adaptive Integrated Digital Architecture
Framework (AIDAF)” and Mayur Joshi, University of Manchester for “Why So Many Data Science Projects Fail to Deliver”.
The AIS Impact Award recognizes information systems research with widespread impact on practice in business and society. The key criteria are breadth of use in practice as well
as relevance to information systems research. The assessment of the quality of the work is considered secondary to the degree to which it has been widely adopted. The 2022 AIS Impact Award Winners are:

The AIS Technology Vision Award is given to those who have contributed to the technology vision for the association. The VISION award is given to those who have articulated a strategic
thrust for the association. Sabine Matook is the recipient of the 2022 AIS Technology Vision Award.
The AIS Award for Innovation in Teaching recognizes innovation in teaching approaches/techniques (pedagogy) as well as in delivering courses and programs. This award specifically
focuses on the uniqueness/innovativeness that increases student interest and drives achievement. The 2022 AIS Award for Innovation in Teaching award winners are Martin Adam and Matthias Söllner.
The Senior Scholars have annually recognized up to five papers with a Best Information Systems (IS) Publications Award. This award was established to recognize the breadth of high-quality
work that is being published in the information systems discipline and was designed to bring outstanding papers across a range of journals to the attention of the IS community, and to give due credit to the journals in which they are published. 2022

Winner: Sebastian Lins for the dissertation titled “Unveiling and enhancing the Effectiveness of Information System Certifications”. Lins is now at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology.

First Runner Up: Xiang (Shawn) Wan for the dissertation titled “The Economic Value of Algorithmic Product Recommendation Systems”. Wan is now at Santa Clara University.

Second Runner Up: Malmi Amadoru for the dissertation titled “The Organizing Values of Digital Innovations: The Case of Blockchain Using the Twitter Discourse”. Amadoru is now at HEC Montreal.
The Ting-Peng Liang PACIS Young Scholar Award was established in 2021 in memory of Professor Ting-Peng Liang who founded PACIS and PAJAIS, served AIS President, and received AIS
Fellow and LEO Award. This award recognizes the outstanding young scholar who contributed a best paper at PACIS each year. The 2022 TP Liang PACIS Young Scholar Award winner is Jicheng Zeng.
ICIS 2022 also featured awards for numerous excellent papers.
