Statement of Solidarity With the Iranian People

Friday, October 14, 2022   (4 Comments)
The Association for Information Systems believes the defense of academic freedom, the freedom of speech, freedom of the press, freedom of assembly and association, as well as the responsibility to protect the safety of our colleagues and students are universal causes common to all of us in the global community.

AIS stands in solidarity with the Iranian people, the Iranian members of AIS, and educators and students facing violence and incarceration as they protest gender discrimination. The leadership joins countless other post-secondary organizations and institutions urging for equality and peace for all.

Thank you for your kind thoughts and support. For Iran, this is just a matter of time.. an unavoidable evolutionary path..

I appreciate the statement and your support. I have a request from our colleagues: The Iranian government has blocked the internet to contain the protests and make it hard for people to coordinate their efforts. So, many Iranian students who are planning to apply for their graduate studies will not be able to meet the deadlines. Also, the sanctions have limited their ability to pay their application fees. So, I appreciate it if you consider these limits when you evaluate your applicants from Iran.
