JAIS Theory Development Workshop

Wednesday, August 3, 2022   (0 Comments)
Since December 2002, the Journal of the Association for Information Systems (JAIS) has held annual Theory Development Workshops. This year JAIS will hold the 20th JAIS Theory Development Workshop in conjunction with ICIS 2022 in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Workshop Information and Format

This year the Theory Development Workshop will provide a completely new and novel experience. Structured somewhat like the TV series Shark Tank, authors who have published a theory paper in a major conference can compete to have their work selected by a mentor to be further refined for publication in JAIS as a JAIS Promise submission, following the workshop. Authors will have 15 minutes to present their theory and 10 to receive feedback from the panel comprised of JAIS Senior Editor mentors and senior scholar guest editors. The panel judges are Robert Gregory, Varun Grover, Dorothy Leidner, and Youngjin Yoo. A limited number of theory papers will be chosen for the workshop to be presented. The ultimate number of papers selected will be decided based on the quantity and quality of entries. During the workshop, individuals who are not presenting are welcome to attend as audience participants. Audience participants will be able to vote on various awards and also provide feedback to authors in an online chat that will run throughout the event. Awards will be given to authors for audience favorite and panel favorite.
