AIS is excited to welcome the Thailand (THAIS) Chapter of the Association for Information Systems to the AIS community!  Helle Zinner Henriksen, AIS Vice President of Member Services and Chapters, said about the Thailand Chapter, “It is with great pleasure that I can inform that the THAIS Thailand Chapter was approved at our Council meeting in September. Thanks to the initiative, which is led by Savanid (Nui) Vatanasakdakul, Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar, the THAIS strengthens the presence of AIS in Region 3.” The goal of THAIS is to promote the exchange of ideas, experiences, and knowledge among information system scholars and professionals engaged in the development, management, and use of information and communications systems and technology in Thailand. The new chapter will enable the IS research community to increase research collaborations and outputs in the Thai context. "The long journey towards establishing the Thailand chapter of AIS (THAIS) has faced a number of challenges but yet amazing. It is not just about pinning Thailand on the global map of the IS research community," said Dr. Savanid (Nui) Vatanasakdakul, founding president of the chapter. "The journey has laid a path for growing the IS community spirit, collegial and peer support to new friendship development. It was the first time that we called ourselves 'the Thai IS community' and created a nationwide public event to discuss the landscape of IS development in Thailand: past present and future. We are excited to grow our community and make IS research known to Thailand. Importantly, we are looking forward to developing more international research collaboration with the global community." THAIS is represented by Savanid (Nui) Vatanasakdakul as President, Peter Ractham as President Elect, Wachara Chantatub as the Director of Outreach & Sponsorship, Thunyanee Pothisarn as Secretary, and Damrongsak Naparat as Treasurer.  To learn more about THAIS and to join, please visit the THAIS website or email membership@aisnet.org.
