Wednesday, May 5, 2021   (0 Comments)

The Journal of the Association for Information Systems (JAIS) is pleased to announce the winner of the 2020 Best Paper Award: "Who is the Next 'Wolf of Wall Street'? Detection of Financial Intermediary Misconduct by Jens Lausen, Benjamin Clapham, Michael Siering, and Peter Gomber. The paper investigates financial intermediary misconduct via regulators self-disclosed information.

“This is a highly innovative paper both in terms of the issues examined and the method employed,” said JAIS Editor-in-Chief Dr. Dorothy E. Leidner. “The results demonstrate that self-disclosed information can be used to effectively detect financial intermediary misconduct and to distinguish intermediaries who do commit misconduct from those who do not.”

The findings of this article are highly relevant for both investors and regulators seeking to identify financial intermediary misconduct and thus contribute to the societal challenge of building and ensuring trust in the financial system.

This article was published in the Sept-Oct 2020 issue (Volume 21, Issue 5). JAIS is proud to honor these individuals for their hard work and commitment to the IS community!
