AIS 2021 Council Election Results

Thanks to all AIS members for our record-breaking participation in the 2021 AIS Council Elections. The AIS Secretary and Leadership Team are pleased to announce the following candidates who have been elected and will take office on September 1, 2021:
 
Suprateek (Supra) Sarker has been elected to the position of President-Elect. Sarker is the Rolls-Royce Commonwealth Commerce Professor at the University of Virginia (USA). His teaching covers data management, BI, and cultural immersion. He has served as Editor-in-Chief of the Journal for the Association for Information Systems and the Journal of Information Technology Case and Application Research, as well as Senior Editor of Information Systems Research, MIS Quarterly, Decision Sciences, and Information & Organization. 
 
Sarker has served in a variety of AIS volunteer roles including previous ICIS Program Chair, upcoming ICIS Conference Chair, a member of the AIS Publications Committee, Junior Faculty Consortia, and former president of SIG Grounded Theory Methodology.
 
Jan Marco Leimeister has been elected Vice President of Education. Leimeister serves as Professor and Director at the Institute of Information Management at the University of St. Gallen (Switzerland) where his research and teaching covers digital value creation, service design and innovation, crowdsourcing, AI and human interaction, digital work, and digital learning.
 
Leimeister has previously served as ICIS Program Chair, ECIS Program Chair, a founding member of the AIS German Chapter, and treasurer of the AIS Swiss Chapter. He is co-Editor in Chief of the Journal of Information Technology and serves as a board member for Journal of MIS, European Journal of Information Systems, and Business and Information Systems Engineering.
 
Michelle Carter has been elected Vice President of SIGs and Colleges. Carter is an Associate Professor at the Carson College of Business at Washington State University (USA). Her research interests include investigating information technologies’ involvement in identity and social change, factors that shape individuals’ IT use behaviors, and information systems management. She has served as Senior Editor for Information Technology & People and now serves as an Associate Editor for the Journal for the Association for Information Systems.
 
As an active AIS member, Carter has served in many volunteer roles, including vice president, president and past president of SIG Social Inclusion, chair of the AIS standing committee on Diversity and Inclusion, secretary of the AMCIS Executive Committee, and various other AMCIS, ECIS and ICIS volunteer roles.
 
Congratulations to all who were nominated, as well as the winners, of the 2021 AIS Council Elections.
