AIS Names Alex Lopes Associate Vice President for Student Chapters

AIS is excited to announce Alex Lopes has been named Associate Vice President for Student Chapters. Lopes is a Clinical Professor and Grant Thornton Scholar at the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University, where he has managed a vast teaching portfolio including such topics as AI, automation (RPA), Big Data, strategic IT and Digital Transformation, process modeling, agile development, data intelligence, and consulting skills.
In an effort to more effectively integrate AIS Student Chapter operations into the ongoing mainstream activities across the Association the Associate Vice President (AVP) for Student Chapters position was created and moving student chapter operations were moved under the AIS Vice President of Membership.
Formerly, AIS Student Chapters were managed by the Vice President of Student Chapters, Rhonda Syler, University of Arkansas. She was instrumental in expanding student chapter competitions, planning the annual Student Chapter Leadership Conference, and building strategic partnerships with IBM and other sponsors.
Lopes has extensive experience with undergraduate students through his leadership with capstone projects in MSIS, MS in IT Management. He created the Kelley Undergraduate Technology Consulting Workshop and has coached several international case competition winners.
“I am excited to begin my role as AVP of AIS Student Chapters with an already strong program in place,” said Lopes. “I look forward to further engaging with our next generations of information systems scholars and professionals in a way that is meaningful to them and to the association community.”
