The Association for information Systems is excited to welcome the Eastern Africa (AISEA) chapter as the newest AIS Community. The AISEA chapter will help provide networking, research collaboration, and educational opportunities to AIS members throughout the Eastern Africa region.
“In the beginning of June, we had the pleasure of welcoming the East African AIS chapter into the AIS family,” said Helle Zinner Henriksen, AIS Vice President of Membership and Chapters. “This is a great opportunity for IS scholars to get more familiar with research and educational activities in the region and to build new relationships with fellow IS researchers.”
The chapter will serve the countries within the Eastern Africa Region, including Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, South Sudan, and Somalia. AISEA intends to strengthen Information Systems research and practice within the area.
The goals of the Eastern Africa chapter include:
- Advance the growth of the discipline within the Eastern African Region.
- Prepare the next generation of academics and professionals for a career in IS.
“As a region, we are excited to welcome the AIS Eastern Africa (AISEA) Chapter as a timely platform to facilitate the advancement of IS Scholarship and Practice within the Eastern Africa Region,” said John Oredo Otieno, AISEA Chapter Founding President. “As the founding president, and on behalf of the Founding Members, I take this early opportunity to thank the AIS Council for approving the AISEA Chapter.”
