2020 AIS Council Election Results

The Association for Information Systems is happy to announce the results of the 2020 AIS Council Elections. New Council members will join the AIS Council on September 1, 2020.

The results of the election are as follows:

President-elect – Patrick Chau, University of Nottingham Ningbo China

Patrick joined the University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC) as Vice Provost for
Research and Li Dak Sum Chair in Information Systems and Operations Management
in March 2019. Prior to joining UNNC,  he served at the University of Hong Kong
(HKU) for 20 years where he held various leadership positions including Area Head of the Information Systems Group and Director of the School of Business.  His research focuses on IT adoption and electronic commerce and he has close to 100
papers published in journals including MISQ, JMIS, JAIS, EJIS, ISJ, CACM, DSS,
I&M. He is currently the Editor-in-Chief of I&M and a Senior Editor of JAIS.

Vice President of Region 1 – Monica Garfield, Bentley University

Monica has an undergraduate degree in Cognitive Science from Vassar College, an MBA from Boston University and a PhD in IS from the University of Georgia. Her research focuses on team formation, creativity, and knowledge creation in healthcare and non-profits. Her current work focuses on how data analytics can be used to help understand and reduce homelessness. Her teaching is primarily in database and data management as well as IT strategy, however she is currently developing new curricula around data driven decision making and storytelling with data. She also is the international coordinator for the first PhD in IT in Ethiopia at Addis Ababa University—a program that has successfully graduated a number of PhD students over the course of her tenure.

Runners up included Wai Fong Boh and Guy Gable for the position of President-elect, and Eleanor Loiacono for the position of VP of Region 1.

A special thank you to the Nominating Committee members for their work in selecting candidates, all candidates who ran for office, and the membership of AIS for voting to shape the future of AIS.
