AIS Welcomes Doctoral Student College

AIS is excited to welcome its newest College to the AIS Community -- the AIS Doctoral Student College. The College is open to all graduate students and early career scholars in information systems who are members of AIS in good standing. The College was established to provide a forum for discourse between graduate students and early career scholars, an opportunity for mentor relationships crucial to the success of graduate students and early career scholars, and an avenue for career coaching through AIS-sponsored panels and discussions at ICIS and other AIS-sponsored conferences. 

Co-founded and led by President Mahesh Boodraj (Georgia State University,; Vice President Carol Lee (University of Massachusetts Boston,; Secretary Tawfiq Alashoor (University of Notre Dame,; Past President John Correia (Gonzaga University,; and Directors-at-Large Jessica Pye (Arizona State University, and Jennifer Claggett (Wake Forest University,, the AIS Doctoral Student College will not only carry out special doctoral student programming at AIS conference, such as the Doctoral Student Corner, but will alsowork toward achieving five major goals over the next five years (the "Five-in-Five" plan):

  • Extend the Doctoral Student Corner to ECIS and PACIS
  • Launch an international faculty-student mentorship program
  • Raise funds for travel grants and student scholarships
  • Provide educational resources to support research and teaching
  • Create opportunities for students to engage with the AIS Community

"We are excited to create this active and engaged community to help support our doctoral student and early career members," said Lakshmi Iyer, Vice President of SIGs and Colleges. "We are committed to the future of the IS field and supporting the up-and-coming leaders who will help advance our cause."

All current AIS Doctoral Student members will automatically be members of the Doctoral Student College. AIS Academic and Professional members who are in the early stage of their careers (those in their first two years of the profession) are also invited to join by emailing Membership in the College is free.
