In the fall of 2019, AIS announced a new scholarship program dedicated to helping doctoral students fund their memberships within the association. The targeted students for this scholarship are from countries classified with Medium or Low UN Human Development Index Ratings.
This scholarship provides an opportunity for Doctoral Students who would not ordinarily be able to earn access AIS member benefits such as the eLibrary, career services, educational resources and more.
In December, the AIS Council unanimously voted to honor one of the most influential founding members of the association by renaming the scholarship in honor of Ephraim McLean.
Ephraim McLean was chosen in gratitude of his many years of dedication support to AIS. McLean, a founding member of AIS, as well as its Executive Director for ten years, has helped AIS and the study of information systems grow over the past 25 years into the outstanding global organization it is today. He also holds AIS Fellow and LEO Awards.
“Very few have played such an instrumental role in the development and success of the association and its members,” said AIS President, Alan Dennis. “We are grateful for his participation as an active member of the association and as a leader in the field. I know that his influence will continue to guide the next generation of information systems scholars.”
The Ephraim McLean Student Membership Scholarship Program will grant up to four one-year Doctoral Student Memberships each year in support of students who need it most.
