After being an affiliated AIS conference for many years, the European Conference on Information Systems now has officially been adopted as the World Region 2 (Europe, Africa and Middle East) conference for AIS. This conference, hosted annually in Region 2, is the leading conference on information systems in the European region. Conference activities center around papers, panels, workshops, doctoral consortiums and more.
“AIS has worked closely with ECIS for many years,” said Jason Thatcher, AIS president. “We owe a debt of gratitude to ECIS organizations for beginning and sustaining such a high quality event to advance the field of information systems.”
Special thanks go to Edgar Whitley, Patrick Finnegan and Remko Helms, who have worked extensively with ECIS over the years, in continuing to uphold the excellent standard of professionalism ECIS has become so well known for. Additional thanks goes to Roman Beck, Helmut Krcmar and Jan Pries-Heje for their work on behalf of ECIS and AIS in organizing the transition of ECIS to an official AIS conference.
“The addition of ECIS to the official family of AIS Conferences (AMCIS, ICIS and PACIS) reinforces AIS as the platform for the global IS community,” said Thatcher. “AIS members will now have even greater access to professional opportunities and of course ECIS proceedings will continue to be available in the AIS eLibrary.”
ECIS 2017 will take place in Guimarães, Portugal from June 5 to 10, at the Centro Cultural Vila Flor and is hosted by the Department of Information Systems of the University of Minho. The aim of the ECIS 2017 is to discuss the fundamental issues related to the role information systems research and education can play in creating a smart, sustainable and inclusive world.
