Highlighting Our Communities—SIG IT Project Management

The Special Interest Group for Information Technology Project Management (ITProjMgmt) globally promotes and facilitates the creation, presentation and publication of research examining all facets of IT project management, including pedagogical issues. This group of passionate individuals strives to be the global leader in linking and integrating IT project management research and practice.

Since its inception in 2006, SIG ITProjMgmt has been a leader within the industry. The group received the AIS Outstanding SIG designation two years in a row for their contributions in support AIS’ mission through the advancement of knowledge and the promotion of excellence in the practice and study of information systems. Today, the SIG has more than 150 members and is sponsoring its 11th International Research Workshop on IT Project Management (IRWITPM) in Dublin as a pre-ICIS event. For more details, visit

“We are really looking forward to our 11th pre-ICIS workshop in Dublin,” says Alanah Mitchell, SIG ITProjMgmt President. “We have a pretty consistent group of involved SIG members that attend our workshop and we are always welcoming and excited for new members to join us.”

SIG ITProjMgmt is sponsored by the Project Management Institute (PMI) and representatives will be at the pre-ICIS workshop to discuss research (fast tracking with PMJ: ), teaching ( ), and other opportunities. SIG ITProjMgmt also maintains a presence at AMCIS, ECIS, and PACIS through the sponsorship of conference tracks.
