Second Swiss Chapter of the AIS (CHAIS) Doctoral Consortium

Doctoral students in information systems in Switzerland are invited to attend the second doctoral consortium (DC) of the Swiss Chapter of the AIS (CHAIS).

DC faculty will be comprised of experienced professors from all major Swiss IS research groups at universities. Currently, the following professors have agreed to serve as DC faculty (subject to change):

  • Prof. Gerhard Schwabe, University of Zürich
  • Prof. Juliana Sutanto, EHT Zürich
  • Prof. Jan vom Brocke, University of Liechtenstein
  • Prof. Robert Winter, University of St. Gallen

The consortium is aimed at providing multi-perspective feedback for doctoral dissertation projects, ideally in the middle (2nd or 3rd year) of their dissertation projects. About 10 to15 doctoral students will be presenting and discussing their research projects in small groups together with experienced supervisors from Swiss Universities.  

Doctoral students are expected to:

a. Apply to be admitted to the DC by May 17, 2015. Applications should include the following:

  • A one-page summary of the dissertation project
  • Curriculum Vitae
  • A very short support statement of the PhD supervisor
  • A five to ten pages summary dissertation paper summarizing the motivation, related work, problem statement / research gap, proposed research approach, planed or actual evaluation of research results.

b. Provide a review of two other submitted dissertation papers (provided by June 1st) until June 15, 2015.

c. Attend the doctoral consortium on June 22nd, present and discuss their papers in a 60 minutes session (30 minutes presentation, 30 minutes discussion).

d. Attend a general Q&A session together with DC faculty.

Upon participation to the Doctoral Consortium and if all requirements are met, CHAIS will deliver a letter certifying successful participation. This letter might
be useful in getting some credits in the home institution if applicable.
There will be no charge for attending the DC. Participants will however need to cover travel and accommodation costs with own funds and need to be or become
members of the CHAIS (

Doctoral students may also consider the opportunity to participate in the 2015 ifi Doctoral Summer School ( taking place the same
week at University of Zürich.
