About AIS Chapters

Because AIS members are located in more than 100 countries, many have formed national and regional chapters that facilitate additional networking between colleagues that live and work close by. As an extension of AIS, chapters support the AIS mission by offering a variety of local services. While each chapter may offer different services, many provide information about upcoming conferences, list serves, web sites, discussions groups, monthly newsletters, conferences, refereed journals and open positions.

Joining a chapter is a two-step process that connects your global membership to a local community.

Step 1: Update Your AIS Profile: Update Your Chapters in your AIS Profile using this link.

Step 2: Confirm Local Membership:While you can add a Chapter to your profile at any time, many Chapters manage their own local activities and collect dues in their local currencies. We recommend visiting the specific Chapter’s website to confirm if additional local dues are required to finalize your participation and access regional benefits.

Starting a chapter is easy! First, review the list of current chapters to see if your area is already covered by an existing chapter. If you don’t see a chapter in your area, click here for more information on how to start a chapter.

Each chapter will be coordinated by a local leadership group. Each group may have a different structure, but they generally follow the standard president, president-elect/vice-president, secretary, and treasurer model. Once you have joined a chapter, the group contact is your best source of information about the chapter.

The AIS Community Leader resource page will provide with the necessary information, resources and inspiration to meet the goals of your chapter.
