Greetings from Region 1! It is a great time to be a member of the Association for Information Systems regardless of where you are from, but we have many great things happening in the Americas region. We had a wonderful Americas Conference in Information Systems (AMCIS) in San Diego in August, 2016. We “surfed the IT innovation wave” with great presentations and research, engaging opportunities for networking, and beautiful weather.
Start thinking about your travel plans and how you can engage with AMCIS 2017 in Boston on August 10 – 12. You can be involved and shape the content of this conference focusing on “A Tradition of Innovation” by submitting a minitrack by October 17th (Call for Minitracks). You can also start working on your completed research papers, emerging research, panels, workshops, or the new and exciting TREO (teaching, research, engagement, and opinion) talks for AMCIS 2017. Submissions for AMCIS open on January 9, 2017.
If you are looking for more local ways to connect within Region 1, check out the chapter options that are available, such as the Latin America, Brazil, Southern US, and Midwest US chapters. Don’t see a chapter in your area, then start a chapter for your region. For those of you in Region 1 with questions about starting a chapter in the Americas or finding better ways to connect with the AIS community, please reach out to me as your Region 1 Representative on AIS Council.
