In June, more than 600 delegates from 39 countries gathered in Chiayi, Taiwan to participate in PACIS 2016. PACIS is the premier annual information systems conference in the Pacific Asia region and recently became the AIS Region 3 conference.
PACIS 2016 received 741 papers from more than 1,900 authors in 49 countries. This submission number is a 15 percent increase over the previous record of 641 submissions to PACIS 2015 in Singapore. These numbers reflect a significant growing trend in the IS community in the Asia Pacific region.
PACIS 2016 offered a comprehensive and high quality program including keynote speakers, research paper presentations, and panels, preceded by several tutorials and workshops, and the doctoral consortium.
Four renowned keynote speakers, Dr. San-Cheng Chang (the former Premier of Taiwan), Dr. Arun Rai (Editor-in-Chief of MIS Quarterly), Dr. Jae Kyu Lee (Past-President of AIS) and Dr. Jason Thatcher (President of AIS), gave inspiring and wonderful keynote speeches during the conference. Twenty-nine tracks provided a rich and knowledgeable platform for researchers to exchange and debate their current work.
Many social events provided opportunities for networking and exploring the country of Taiwan, including the welcome reception, lunches, a gala dinner and free tours. Some snapshots from this successful and exciting conference can be found on the PACIS 2016 website. Thanks much to all the participants in helping make this a successful event.
