The Association for Information Systems has announced the recent joint endeavor of Bright Internet with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with the UN International Telecommunications Union. Last year, AIS announced the grand vision of Bright Internet, which aims to realize the safe Internet by identifying and eliminating origins of malicious attacks without sacrificing the privacy of innocent global netizens. ITU is pursuing the Trust Information Infrastructure which aligns with AIS Bright Internet initiative.
AIS President Jae Kyu Lee of Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology proposed the Principle of Origin Responsibility with four subsequent principles.
"The Principle of Origin Responsibility is a basic in our daily life, but the cyber space is ruled by anonymous in the opposite way,” he said. “Every individual and company should protect themselves without the assistance of government. The anarchy world of Internet should learn from the wisdom of human civilization, which has ethics and a sense of responsibility with freedom."
Many scholars are joining the Bright Internet Initiative hoping it can become a foundation of the next generation Internet.
