Responsive web design is the standard these days. Responsiveness is also a key element in association management. The AIS Council and staff strive to listen to, observe, and inquire about members’ needs – and then provide services to meet those needs.
One way we have responded to member needs recently is by making significant improvements to the Faculty Directory. We know it is important to you to connect with the greater IS academic community. An effective directory is one way you can do that. According to our most recent membership experience survey (Fall 2013), only 22% of respondents rated the directory excellent or very good. The survey, and subsequent conversations with AIS leaders and members, highlighted that the previous directory was not flexible enough to accommodate the diversity within our community. Also, we heard your desire for greater searching capabilities. In response to this input, the new directory provides more detailed search options. It also allows you to be more in-depth about your teaching areas and research interests in your member profile. If you haven’t checked it out lately, what are you waiting for?!
The new, improved directory is only one example of how AIS responds to member needs. We hope the next membership survey shows higher satisfaction with the directory, as well as other areas of the association. You don’t have to wait for a survey to tell us how AIS can better serve you, though. What can AIS do or provide that could help you improve your IS program, elevate your career, or improve your AIS experience? Contact me anytime – I’m all ears!
